It’s a rainy Saturday morning
The type of morning for cuddling
You always snored and twitched when sound asleep
I did not want to wake you
But it’s a rainy Saturday morning
And your Dad wants to cuddle
I picked you up gently, laid you on my chest
Your head would lay on my shoulder
Your face under my chin
It was always a perfect fit
It was the first place I put you as baby
You were so scared, shaking
Taken away by strangers from your brother
Soon that shaking stopped, you were asleep
Over the years
That would be the place, you could always go
Hidden away from scary storms and loud noises
It slowly became a place of love
As you got older you would nudge me over and over
It felt like words spoken
I love you written with a cold nose on my neck
On your last day
It was the place I put you to rest
It is the place you will always be
Close to my heart
Always a sacred safe place
The storms have passed
You are ok now
I love you too
